Using mobile application

The Suomi.fi application is available for Android and iOS mobile phones and tablets. When you activate Suomi.fi Messages on the mobile application or you want to install the mobile application after you have activated Suomi.fi Messages, do the following:

Step 1: Opening the application

Download the Suomi.fi application from Google PlayOpens in a new window. or the App Store

After downloading the Suomi.fi mobile application, open it on your phone or tablet.

Step 2: Permission to send push notifications

The application will ask you for permission to send push notifications. If you want to receive push notifications of new messages you receive, give the app permission to send them. If your device is running Android 11, you will not be asked for permission separately.

You can change the permission later in your device's settings.

Step 3: Identification

Log in to the application using strong identification with bank identification codes or a mobile certificate.

Step 4: Set the PIN and any biometric identifiers

After authentication, the application will instruct you to set a six-digit PIN that you will use to log in to the application in the future.

If desired, you can set a biometric identification method (fingerprint or face detection) that you can use instead of a PIN. The biometric identification method can only be set if your device allows and you have enabled it in your device settings.

Step 5: Select an e-service role for using the application

Next, the application will ask you which e-service role you want to use. You can use the service as yourself or on behalf of a company if you are a signatory entered in the company's trade register and you have the right to represent the company alone.

Note that if you are already a Suomi.fi Messages user, you will be taken directly to the mailbox you select and can skip the steps below.

Step 6: Consent for using Suomi.fi Messages

In the following views, you will be asked to provide:

  • your consent for using Suomi.fi Messages
  • your email address - it must not contain any special Nordic characters
  • the language in which you would like to receive the email notifications of new incoming messages in Suomi.fi Messages.

During the activation, you will receive a confirmation message to the email address that you have given. In the future, this email address will be used to notify you of messages received in Suomi.fi Messages.

Step 7: Confirming your email address

You will receive a confirmation message from noreply@suomi.fi to the email address you entered. To confirm your email address, go to the Suomi.fi application and enter the six-digit confirmation code you received in the message.

Note that the confirmation code is valid for half an hour. If you do not make the confirmation by the deadline, start the Suomi.fi Messages activation again. You cannot activate Suomi.fi Messages without confirming your email address.

Step 8: Activation completed

You will receive the following message to your email: ‘Welcome to Suomi.fi Messages’. The message is sent from noreply@suomi.fi.

You can now start using Suomi.fi Messages and from now on, you will receive messages in electronic format from those organisations that use the service.
